View this post on Instagram A few notes, in reflection on the DMs I’ve received this past week, and actually showing up for Black artists. Supporting the work of Black artists means more than a post reshare. It’s a process of accountability. It’s an ongoing and intentional practice. Black artists been out here, doing our work, changing and building worlds, long before you saw us in a “10 Black People Who Matter” challenge. This is in no way a comprehensive list, just a few starting points. Black creative ecosystems are sources of power. We’re creating new worlds with our work. Show up in meaningful ways beyond temporary frantic energy. If you’re looking for some starting places for Black artists to support, my list of Black creative ecosystems is in my bio! Send them funds. Share them with the media and creative platforms you love. Don’t forget to also support the emerging and local artists in your community! Create wider systems of creative care! If you’re a Black artist with a creative ecosystem/platform, fill out the type form if you’d like your ecosystem to be added. 🌿 Repost guidelines are in my “repost” story highlight! 🌱 #actionrecipe A post shared by Annika Hansteen-Izora (@annika.izora) on Jun 12, 2020 at 1:33pm PDT

View this post on Instagram I’ve compiled a list of over 300 black-owned businesses you can support from just about anywhere (with an LA bias in the food and beverage category). I went through each of these businesses myself to confirm that they are in fact black-owned but if I made a mistake, which is entirely possible, please kindly let me know and I’ll correct it. Instagram will only let me tag 20 so I’ll be tagging my favorites, with no respect to category, below. I’ve always been a champion for conscious consumerism, but now more than ever I implore you all to exercise your purchasing power. Support black brands. Where you choose to spend your money should always be on your mind- especially now and moving forward- as individuals truly do have the power to shape the sort of market we want to see. @golde @comebackasaflower @millersroom @harvey.b.hrvi @darrylbrwn @unionlosangeles @rylopes @iringo.demeter @kenneth.nicholson @mowalola @findyourhilltop @offerings.co @sincerelytommy_ @freedom.apothecary @biancasaunders_ @terra_tory @nolaskinsentials @claudehome @brwnstne.co @maya.njie.perfumes A post shared by Tatiana (@tatiananbodner) on Jun 9, 2020 at 2:12pm PDT

View this post on Instagram Hi friends! Was asked to share some Philly-specific resources that have educated me, helped me to listen to the voices of the Black community in Philadelphia, and lead me to take action. So I made this! I know that there are plenty more voices and resources coming out of our city and if you’d like to amplify any below that aren’t included in this list by commenting, I would greatly appreciate it. I’ve created a separate link tree with all the links mentioned here, click the link in my bio and you’ll see “Resources for Supporting Black Communities in Philadelphia” at the top of my existing link tree. Thank you! #BlackLivesMatter #BLMPhilly #Philadelphia #Philly A post shared by aj quon (@ajquon) on Jun 4, 2020 at 8:42am PDT

View this post on Instagram Volume I of Creative Ecosystems and Funds that are doing the work to support Black people, especially Black queer, trans, and nonbinary folks, and Black women. I’ll be making an updated version of this graphic every two weeks through July to show newly added org & funds. What this moment cannot be is a momentary surge of white guilt translating to temporary care and funds to Black people. White people, NonBlack people, what is your ongoing reparations plan? How will you use your wealth and power to create strategic plans of reparations for Black people? How will you commit to not only paying reparations to Black organizations and collectives, but also to the local Black folks around and beyond your communities? Do reparations make you feel a type of way? Go to google. Do not ask a Black queer woman to explain a concept that has been well researched by Black people across time. There are FIVE types of reparations, learn them. SUPPORT AND FOLLOW THESE ORGS AND FUNDS. They have been doing the WORK long before I made this graphic. You can view the full updated this list of ecosystems & funds by clicking my bio link. If you’d like to submit your Creative Ecosystem or Fund, please hit my bio link and fill out the form. This list IN NO WAY encompasses the vast numbers of Creative Ecosystems that are supporting Black people. This list needs to grow, it needs your help to do that work. I will post a newly updated collection of orgs/funds every two weeks through July. Share these resources. Build your reparations plan. Get to work. Note 1. Yes you can repost with credit! My venmo is @annikaizora & I’ll be redistributing funds. Note 2. I could only tag 20 max in this post, I’ve tagged all of orgs in my stories! Now saved as highlight. Note 3. Every listed org/fund is not solely run by or only supports Black people. Some of these organizations support NonBlack people as well, but they (1.) Show dedicated support to Black people, and also (2.) Have Black leaders on their core teams/boards. A post shared by Annika Hansteen-Izora (@annika.izora) on Jun 3, 2020 at 11:40am PDT

View this post on Instagram PC Music has a whiteness problem. Since its founding in 2013, it took 6 years before they signed a Black artist. They had become known for not often working with people of color. In recent years, this record has gotten a bit better. But it is not enough. These collaborations are still few and far between. I recognize that this is a problem and you should too. Why? Because it is our duty to hold the people and things we love accountable instead of remaining comfortable in silence. The artists should reflect the diversity of their fan base. We must lift up and celebrate Black art and artistry where it is being ignored. Because Black artists matter. And of course, now and forever, Black Lives Matter. #BlackLivesMatter #BLM #PCMusic ✊🏿✊🏽✊🏾 P.S. This is obviously just scratching the surface. Comment your favorite Black artists that belong on this list. A post shared by PC Music Memes (@pc.music.memes) on Jun 6, 2020 at 9:43am PDT
